Event Overview

The IEEE Tropic Topic Tour 2025 was a large-scale regional mentoring and innovation initiative designed to connect student branches across Colombia’s Caribbean region, with a strong emphasis on inclusion and territorial outreach. By intentionally hosting activities outside major urban centers, the program expanded access to IEEE mentorship, leadership development, and technical learning opportunities for a broader and more diverse audience.

The initiative combined virtual mentoring and training sessions with an in-person project fair and finalist pitch presentations, enabling participants to progress from idea formation to prototype validation under the guidance of experienced mentors. Multidisciplinary student teams were formed through an open call and matched with mentors who supported both technical development and soft-skills growth throughout the journey.

Program Structure and Highlights

Official in-person launch of the IEEE Mentoring Meet within the Tropic Topic Tour
Series of virtual mentoring sessions covering project development, technical guidance, and soft skills
Hybrid and in-person technical talks on AI, data visualization, renewable energy, IoT, programming, and emerging technologies
Project Fair and Finalist Pitch Presentations showcasing mentored projects
Closing session focused on career vision, leadership, and next steps

This phased structure ensured sustained engagement and measurable outcomes for participants.
