IEEE Mentoring Meet Egypt 2024

The IEEE Young Professionals (YP) Egypt recently organized the second edition of its Mentoring Meet, making this year’s event particularly distinctive. Unlike the previous edition, which included group sessions, this version was designed to provide one-on-one mentoring, ensuring that each participant received individualized guidance. New tracks were also introduced to reflect current market trends, enhancing the relevance of the mentorship experience. Mentors were drawn from academia and leading companies, offering mentees — students and graduates — valuable insights from academic and industry perspectives. The event was held in collaboration with the BUE student branch.

Event Overview:

• Opening Ceremony: The event commenced with a formal opening ceremony, featuring speeches from distinguished guests and partners, setting the stage for the day’s activities.
• Mentorship Tracks: The event featured seven specialized tracks to cater to diverse interests and industry demands:

  5. Embedded Systems
  6. Energy Solutions
  7. Entrepreneurship
• Mentoring Sessions: The one-on-one mentoring sessions allowed for personalized interactions between mentors and mentees, ensuring tailored guidance and support. This year, 17 mentors from academia and industry engaged with over 160 mentees.
• Marketing Strategy: The marketing strategy involved generating intrigue through anonymous posts about the event, initially withholding details about the date and location. Information on the tracks was later shared through emails and YP Egypt’s social media channels. During the registration period, further details were provided, including descriptions of each track and introductions to the mentors leading them. This approach effectively built interest and engagement in the lead-up to the event.

The event concluded with a closing session and award distribution, followed by a lunch and networking session, marking the end of a fruitful and engaging day.
