Section 1: Event Details
UK Mentor-Mentee Meetup 2023, the UK and Ireland edition of IEEE Mentoring Meet was held in Northumbria University, Newcastle on 18th November 2023 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM. The event was held as an in-person event where both mentors and mentees attended. We have also introduced the mentoring meet program to potential mentors and mentees who attended the event. The organising of the event was led by Rajitha de Silva ([email protected]), the secretary of the IEEE UK and Ireland Young Professionals.
Section 2: Assessment against KPI
- Number of Mentors and mentees attended:
40 registrants expressed their interest in participating in the program. However,
most of the registrants were unwilling to attend the program in person. There were 2 mentors, and
3 mentees attended the event in person. Additional participants also attended the session
who expressed their future interest in participating in similar programs. - Diversity of mentors:
Both mentors who attended in person were from the industry. - Usage of resources provided in the mentoring portal:
The resources provided in the mentoring portal were extremely helpful in organizing the event seamlessly. The volunteers did not have to spend additional time on creating forms for data acquisition for the process of mentor, and mentee matching. The automated web platform provided for mentee information collection was particularly commendable.
